The driver of a vehicle suspected to have been involved in a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian Thursday morning in Abbotsford has been arrested.
Const. Mike Willford of the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) released the information at 1 p.m. Thursday.
“A suspect vehicle has been located and seized by police, and the driver has been arrested,” he said.
No charges have yet been laid, and the driver’s name has not been released.
The victim was struck by a vehicle heading south shortly after 6 a.m. on Highway 11 near Clayburn Road.
“Upon arrival, first responders located a badly injured male in his 50s. Sadly, lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful,” Willford said.
An air ambulance was initially requested but was called off shortly after.
Southbound traffic is still blocked off, as of 1 p.m., as Abbotsford Police continue their investigation.
Willford said investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward, including anyone who might have dashcam video. They can contact the APD at 604-859-5225 or text abbypd (222973).
