Editor’s note: Quotes from Doug Allin and Mayor Brian Taylor added.
Grand Forks has announced that Doug Allin will succeed Lynne Burch as chief administrative officer (CAO) for the City of Grand Forks effective this October.
Allin is currently director of operations for the District of Peachland and according to a release from the City of Grand Forks, brings a wide range of skills and experience that fit the needs of the community.
“I’m really looking forward to moving to Grand Forks and working with the city council and community for many years,” said Allin. “This is something I’ve considered for a few years now.”
Mayor Brian Taylor and council are looking forward to working with Allin in the coming months.
“I’m excited for someone like Doug, who has great experience and background, to come to Grand Forks,” said Taylor. “He’s also a young man with family that he’s bringing with him and he’s someone who’s willing to make a commitment to our community for a number of years.”
Taylor noted that Allin will start officially in October but will be in Grand Forks on various occasions leading up to the start date to meet with people.
“It’s a very important role in the city,” Taylor added. “The CAO really sets the tone and direction of the community as well as council. The combination of having a good council and good CAO makes a difference.”
Burch will be retiring in November.
