A bear has been euthanized after an attack on a ATV rider near Wycliffe Regional Park, according to RCMP.

Both police and B.C. Conservation Officer Service responded to the incident, which was reported earlier Saturday morning.

The ATV rider was able to discharge his firearm, which injured the bear before it fled.

Authorities urged residents to avoid the area, and remind people to exercise caution when accessing the backcountry.
