The City of Revelstoke is ceasing all non-essential services and sending those staff home.
Mayor Gary Sulz said public works and the parks and recreation department will be one of the services impacted.
Garbage pick up, water, sewer and if it snows, snow removal services will not be affected.
The city is working on procedures for the finance department as well as development services to process applications and payments.

All departments remain accessible via email and phone. Sulz said the city is estimating staff to come back in two weeks, however they are continuing to assess the situation and will readjust.
“We want to make sure our staff is safe,” he said.
The city has also activated a Level One Emergency Operations Centre which allows the city to monitor the COVID-19 situation and begin pre-planning should future levels be required.
“I support the decision to cease non-essential services that will protect our employees and residents and help with flattening the curve,” said Mayor Gary Sulz.
He did note that the public health crisis will impact the local economy.
“Everyone will be impacted.”
However, Sulz said he is impressed with how local businesses are reacting to the pandemic and taking measures to combat it, such as reducing hours or closing.
“Downtown looks like a ghost town. And it should.”
