One person is dead as a result of a single-vehicle accident early Tuesday in Vernon.
Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP say at around 5:45 a.m., police, fire rescue and ambulance personnel responded to the collision on Mission Road near the Allan Brooks Nature Centre turnoff.
A blue Kia Sorrento went off-road and collided with a power pole. The driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, died as a result of the collision.
No name or hometown has been released.
“An RCMP collision analyst is currently on-scene to conduct further investigation into the cause of the collision,” said RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett. “Mission Road remains open at this time with single-lane alternating traffic.”
RCMP North Okanagan Traffic Services and the BC Coroner Services continue to investigate the collision and death.

Tuesday morning commuter traffic is slowed on Commonage Road in Vernon, near the turnoff to the Allan Brooks Nature Centre, as Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP investigate a single vehicle rollover.
The crash, involving an SUV or a mini-van, is reported to have happened at around 5:15 a.m.
RCMP are directing traffic near the scene.
No other details are available.
