Langley RCMP say it was a medical issue that caused a 49-year-old Langley man to swerve his 2015 Dodge Journey into a bus shelter, demolishing it and a lamp standard on 200 Street Monday morning.
Luckily, no one was sitting at the bus stop at the time of the crash, said police.
It was around 6:30 a.m. when the Langley driver swerved his white SUV sharply to the right while travelling south on 200 Street at 70 Avenue.
A Coke truck, also heading south, collided with a water delivery truck trying to avoid the out-of-control Dodge, said Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Largy.
The SUV jumped the curb, destroying the large bus shelter and taking out the large lamp standard beside the bus stop. The bus shelter was reduced to a crumpled piece of metal and remained behind police tape on Tuesday.
“The driver was in shock but not injured,” said Largy. The drivers of the Coke and water trucks weren’t injured in the crash, she said.
