An early morning fire has destroyed a Mission laundromat and damaged some of the adjoining businesses.
Mission Fire Rescue Services were called out to Mama Bear’s Duds N Suds, located at 32618 Logan Ave., early Friday morning at about 1 a.m.
The firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the building.
The fire was extinguished and as of 8:30 Friday morning a small crew of firefighters were still on scene.
No cause of the fire has been determined. Mission’s assistant fire chief Norm MacLeod said the investigation is just beginning.
According to MacLeod, the fire was contained to the laundromat, but the damage was significant.
“It’s put the laundromat out of business,” he said.
Two other businesses, T&T Pawn and Loan and the Loco Blue Cafe, suffered smoke damage.
Investigators will have to establish whether any structural damage has occurred due to the incident.
