A hiker who suffered a fractured ankle while walking on Sumas Mountain in Abbotsford will likely require surgery for her injury, according to an online comment thanking the Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue teams that brought her out Monday afternoon.
Mission Search And Rescue sent additional manpower to help pull the injured woman out using ropes and a stretcher.
It took about three hours to get her down the mountain to be transferred to a waiting ambulance.
The message on Twitter said the hiker and her friends were thankful for the “extraordinary care” provided.
The rescue teams were called out around 2 p.m. to respond to a report of an injured hiker on Sumas mountain on or near the lake.
