Dorothy Peacock and Gordon Greenwood Elementary were in lock-down Wednesday morning.
Langley RCMP initiated the ‘hold and secure’ lockdown around 10:30 a.m. while they looked for a suspect who had broken into an RV parked near Dorothy Peacock, which is a Walnut Grove school.
A suspect walked into Dorothy Peacock school and went into a washroom where he changed his clothing to elude police, said Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Largy.
He then made his way through the ravine and was heading towards Gordon Greenwood Elementary which was also put into lockdown. Police were able to take him into custody and the lock down was lifted by 12:30 p.m.
A hold and secure lockdown is engaged for the safety of students and staff where the exterior doors to the school are locked and no one may access the school.
Classes continue with as little disruption as possible.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Original information from RCMP indicated that the suspect was hiding in an outside bathroom at Dorothy Peacock. They have since corrected that information to indicate the suspect actually entered the elementary school and hid in the inside washroom.
