The 65-year-old ferry had been out of action for a month

The MV Balfour has returned to service.

A spokesperson for the transportation ministry said the Kootenay Lake ferry was operational again as of Sunday.

The 65-year-old ferry, which is due to be replaced in 2022, had been sidelined for a month with mechanical issues caused by a clutch failure.

That left the MV Osprey 2000, the bigger of the two ferries, running on its own between the Balfour and Kootenay Bay terminals.
