UPDATED: Pellets shot at window of B.C. Transit bus

Bus was travelling near Craigflower and Admirals roads Wednesday morning when window was hit

The West Shore RCMP is investigating after pellets were shot at the window of a B.C. Transit bus Wednesday morning.

The #14 bus was near Craigflower and Admirals roads, when the pellets hit the window. The pellets did not appear to enter the bus and no one was injured.

Sooke resident Len Church was listening to music on the bus when he heard two loud cracks sometime between 7:30 and 7:40 a.m.

“I looked around and everyone on the bus seemed to be looking around and I noticed that right across from me, in the middle of the bus, the big window that sits over the handicapped seats was completely shattered. It was all in place from the safety glass, but it was completely shattered,” he said, adding shortly after someone at the back of the bus noticed another window had been broken as well.

“It was a bit of a shocker.”

Passengers then had to disembark and wait for the next bus.

The West Shore RCMP confirmed investigating officers arrived on scene to find two windows shattered with evidence showing an impact was made on the glass but did not enter the bus. None of the passengers or driver were hurt.

It is believed the incident was targeted and a crime of opportunity and the general public is not in danger.

“There are several avenues for us to investigate and we are receiving great co-operation from the public,” said Const. Matthew Baker.

In a statement on Twitter, B.C. Transit noted the safety of employees, customers and the public is their top concern. They’re working with the RCMP and have asked the public to contact the local detachment or Crime Stoppers if anyone has any information on this incident.
