The three people charged in connection with the August 2017 death of Surrey teen Bhavkiran Dhesi appeared in Surrey Provincial Court this morning.
Harjot Singh Deo, along with his mother Manjit Kaur Deo and his older sister Inderdeep Kaur Deo, appeared one at a time by video. Each was scheduled to return to court July 3 to fix another date.
Harjot Singh Deo, 21, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with Dhesi’s death. The 19-year-old’s body was found in a burned SUV in the 18700-block of 24 Avenue in South Surrey early Aug. 2, 2017.

Manjit Kaur Deo, 53, and sister Inderdeep Kaur Deo, 23, are each charged with ‘accessory after the fact to murder.’
Police announced charges against the three last month.
In court Thursday, Manjit Kaur Deo appeared first, speaking only to confirm her identity to the judge. A Punjabi interpreter translated the balance of her proceedings.
Inderdeep Kaur Deo looked down through most of her appearance, crossing her arms at times.
Harjot Singh Deo also did not speak beyond confirming his identity.
No-contact orders were renewed against all three of the accused, prohibiting them from making any contact with Dhesi’s parents or sister.
Crown counsel David Simpkin noted due to the nature of the charges the trio are facing, any bail hearing must take place in B.C. Supreme Court.
