The Bella Coola Conservation Officer Service is asking anyone with information regarding two dead grizzly cubs to come forward. On June 30 a passerby came across two deceased grizzly bear cubs on Thorsen Road near Bella Coola. The passerby then reported the cubs to the RAPP Line. The Conservation Officer Service (COS) with the assistance of the RCMP attended the scene. The sow was not located.
Failure to report the accidental killing of wildlife is an offence under the Wildlife Act, as such, the incident is under investigation by the COS. Anderson confirmed that a vehicle strike was most likely what killed the cubs.
