Parksville:
The City of Parksville announced on Monday (March 16) that their offices would be closed to the public until further notice due to concern around COVID-19.
The decision was made by Mayor Ed Mayne, with an “abundance of caution.”
All essential services in Parksville including fire, bylaw enforcement and the city will continue to function. Last week the city cancelled all non-essential meetings and made council meetings closed to the public.
Information provided by Christina Gray, communications co-ordinator for the RDN, on Ravensong pool, Oceanside Place and other RDN facilities:
– At this time, all RDN services and facilities, including recreational programming, are continuing as scheduled. The RDN is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and will follow all recommendations from provincial and federal health authorities.
– However, there are some steps the RDN is taking to minimize risk: All RDN buses are being sanitized daily; High touchpoints at Oceanside Place Arena and Ravensong Aquatic Centre (closed on the weekend with an electrical issue) are being cleaned four times per day; Alcohol-based sanitizer, cleaner and disinfectant wipes are available at all RDN service counters; Additional hand sanitizer units have been installed in RDN buildings and Janitorial staff are cleaning daily.
