The Upper Clearwater Fire Brigade is holding its 2019 Season Kick Off this weekend, which will help raise money for needed equipment so the group is ready for this year’s wildfire season.

“We’re hosting a spaghetti and chicken dinner with all the trimmings for $13 a person and we’re going to be having a raffle for $250 Flight Centre gift certificates for any flight booked through the Flight Centre,” said Susan Ward, who’s on the board of directors for the Upper Clearwater Fire Brigade and is helping organize the event.

“There’s a 50/50 draw as well and the money raised is being used to equip our new fire truck that we purchased in January.”

Ward added the truck needs to be converted for fighting forest fires, as opposed to its original purpose of fighting structure fires and needs new hoses, connectors, and valves.

Additional equipment is also needed for brigade members.

The 2019 Season Kick Off will be taking place on May 26 at the Upper Clearwater Farmer’s Institute Hall with doors opening at 5 p.m. for mixing and mingling.

Anyone looking to reserve a ticket can contact Ward at 250-674-0114 or email susan.ward5021@gmail.com
