A group of vandals tossed manhole covers at the windshields of cars parked on Bluenose Motors’ lot in Parksville early Sunday morning, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
Bluenose owner Al Cameron said the vandalism happened at roughly 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
“A neighbour who lives nearby said he believes there were about four or five of them (vandals),” said Cameron. “They were taking manhole covers and basically throwing them through the windshields and then putting the boots to the body panels.”
“It’s a tough pill to swallow when you come in (to work) and see that.”
Cameron said Oceanside RCMP members were at the scene on Monday gathering evidence, including fingerprints and boot/shoe marks.
“They (the RCMP) were really professional,” said Cameron.
Police said this week they are investigating the crime. “We are looking at surveillance, fingerprints, anything we can figure out to find these suspects,” said Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman.
