Nechako Valley Secondary School’s grad committee is requesting local businesses to provide items in support of the celebration for the Class of 2021.
“We are asking businesses, big, small and home-based, for any help they are able to give, in providing items we can use to help reach our goal. This could be anything from cash, gift cards, or items that can be used in raffle baskets or even gifts to the grads, themselves,” the NCSS grad committee officials said in an email.

While the celebration depends on the restrictions in June, officials said they have different plans in motion. The grad committee is hoping to have all donations in by April 4.
The committee feels the response has been good so far. “The businesses and community are very generous and supportive and we are grateful,” Barb Teichroeb, chair of the committee, said.
Meanwhile, Teichroeb mentions how difficult and disappointing 2020 has been for the class.
“There has been no social events, career projects, like project health or project heavy duty. No senior year of basketball, volleyball, band trip, etc. The goals they have been working toward for the last four years are just gone. Even socializing in the hallways is frowned upon,” Teichroeb said.
“We are working hard to give them a socially responsible event, an opportunity for the whole class to have some fun as a group after a year of disappointments,” she added.
