Vanderhoof RCMP busy with break and enters and vandalism

On July 16 at 7:56 a.m., a vehicle on Sob Lake Road swerved to miss a dog in the road and hit a power pole. The power lines came down on top of the car and were still hot. Police attended and called BC Hydro to shut the power off so that the lines could be removed from the car.

During the morning of July 17, someone made a complaint of a break and enter at a residence on the 2900 block of Riverview. Someone entered the residence the previous night and caused some damage. Nothing was stolen. Two weeks ago a residence on the same block was also broken into and several items were taken.

At 11:49 a.m. on July 18, a motor vehicle accident was reported. A vehicle towing a travel trailer being driven by some people from the United States went off Highway 16 at Blackwater Road. There were no reported injuries.

At 1:39 p.m. the same day, a tow truck was in the process of pulling the vehicle out of the ditch when a semi-truck hit the tow truck.

On July 19 at 8:58 a.m. a break and enter was reported at the College of New Caledonia. Someone had broken into the office through a window and stolen some money.

At 9:45 p.m. on July 19 someone reported that the tires had been slashed on a 2007 black Ford pick up which had been parked in the College of New Caledonia’s parking lot.

On July 20  at 6 a.m. someone reported that the back window of their car had been smashed and a wallet had been stolen. The vehicle was parked at a residence on the 3200 block of Hospital Road.

On July 20 at 2:10 p.m., it was reported that someone took a skidder and drove it into another and then took off.

A motor vehicle accident was reported at 1:44 p.m. on July 21. A vehicle driving down Dump Road was hit by another vehicle pulling out of a business.

On July 21 at 7:41 p.m., a shoplifter was caught stealing pork-chops from the Co-op.

 

At 11:02 p.m. on July 21, the night watchman at Riverside Park reported that people were partying in the bird tower and playing loud music.
