Creston RCMP responded to 55 calls for assistance from May 7-13, including reports of arguments and one naked drunk, Staff Sgt. Ryan Currie said on Tuesday.
May 7
• Creston RCMP were asked to assist with a child exploitation investigation.
• Trespassers to a vacant residence were reported at Lower Kootenay.
• An RV was broken into in Boswell.
May 8
• Possible mischief to a vehicle was reported in West Creston.
• An aggressive semi driver was reported in Creston.
• The wait is over for regular police report readers: police received a report of threats stemming from an on-going neighbours’ dispute in Erickson.
• A landlord reported that a tenant sold property that did not belong to her.
• Police were required to intervene in a landlord-tenant dispute that involved harassment.
• A family dispute in Kitchener was investigated as an assault might have taken place.
• An argument over the sale of a vape in Kitchener escalated into violence and threats. Police had to intervene.
• A drinking driver was issued a 90-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days after a vehicle crashed on Highway 21.
May 9
• When a concerned citizen saw a driver slumped over the steering wheel of a car on Highway 21 police were informed and determined that he was taking a nap after experiencing car trouble.
• A dog reported to be in distress in a vehicle outside a Creston business turned out to be fine.
• Police referred a report of aggressive dogs in Yahk to the RDCK bylaw department.
May 10
• How to get a free room for the night: Get drunk. Remove clothes and go to sleep outside a Creston business. “The naturist was provided a warm place to sleep in police cells until sober,” Currie said.
• Police received a report of a person in possession of restricted weapons in Creston.
• When police investigated a report of a possibly intoxicated youth driving he was located, but not driving at the time.
May 11
• Police responded to a report of a domestic assault in Lister, where a suspect was arrested. Charges are pending.
• An aggressive Chihuahua was reported to be terrorizing ankles in Riondel.
May 12
• Cranbrook RCMP requested help with a drug-impaired driver investigation.
• A wallet and ID were in a kayak that went missing on the Goat River.
May 13
• A vehicle was stolen in Creston.
• A caller complained that flaggers in a Creston construction were not doing an adequate job.
• Police warned a person about unsafe and illegal behavior after receiving a report of someone offering sexual services for pay in Creston. No evidence of criminal activity was found.
• When police located a reported suspicious male sitting in a van and using a laptop computer in Creston they determined that he had permission to share a wifi signal with a nearby resident.
