Vedder Road was closed down in both directions between Watson Road and Thomas Road Tuesday afternoon, after a vehicle struck a pedestrian and smashed into a utility pole.
The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m.

Communication lines were down across the road, and the pole was at risk of coming down.
According to the RCMP, the pedestrian suffered serious injuries. Both the driver and the pedestrian were taken to hospital.
RCMP are looking for witnesses.
“As the RCMP investigation continues we are asking for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Chilliwack Traffic Section,” said Cpl. Mike Rail, spokesperson of the UFVRD.
