Vernon politicians are preparing to go into overtime.
Council will extend budget meetings into Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. if discussions are not completed today.
“Council is working through the 2013 proposed budget with great care. Debate has been vigorous and constructive. We are tackling major concepts brought forward in an entirely new budget format,” said Mayor Rob Sawatzky.
“These deal with long-term funding to maintain our infrastructure including roads, sidewalks and our pipe system. We are also dealing with establishing a stable, sustainable revenue base, delivering the right services to our residents and businesses, and reinvesting wisely in our community. The process is taking a little longer than planned, but we are committed to a thorough review.”
Budget discussions started Wednesday.
