Significant damage occurred to a shed after a fire broke out during the early hours of Friday morning.

Vernon firefighters were called to the 3100 block of 41st Avenue at about 4:30 a.m.

“The exterior part of the building caught fire,” said Lawrie Skolrood, deputy chief, adding that the location provides few possible causes.

“We are looking at it as suspicious at this time.”

The fire was discovered after a neighbour heard some noises and went outside.

“Occupants were inside the structure. They were woke up and they got out,” said Skolrood.

The fire remains under investigation.
