The cause of a Vernon fire is still undetermined.
Firefighters were called to a home in the 2500 block of 36th Avenue Tuesday at 10:14 a.m.
“Mom is in Hawaii on vacation and two grown daughters had gone to work at the time of the fire,” said Keith Green, Vernon fire chief.
“The downstairs tenant came home to check on his dog, heard the smoke alarm upstairs and rushed upstairs to make sure the girls were OK. Thankfully, everyone was out of the residence.”
The fire started in a bedroom and the cause still under investigation.
“Emergency Social Services took care of the occupants,” said Green.
“The fire crew did a great job of knocking the fire down in the room of origin. Smoke damage is visible throughout the upstairs and restoration crews and security are still on scene.”
