A lack of disclosure provided to defence and the looming holiday season has forced a Vernon murder case to adjourn to the new year.
Jacqueline Nicole Leavins was beamed into Vernon Law Courts via video Thursday, Dec. 6 as defence lawyer Nicholas Jacob requested the delay.
“The only disclosure I have on the matter is the crown narrative,” Jacob told Justice of the Peace Dalene Krenz. “Given the absence of disclosure and the holidays and the bail hearing (in Supreme Court), I’m asking to adjourn to Jan. 31.”

Adjournment was granted. Leavins will appear at 10:30 a.m. by video.
Leavins faces one count of murder alongside the co-accused Richard Fairgrieve, who is represented by defence lawyer Glenn Verdurmen. None of the charges against either party have been proven in court.
