One girl holding a simple statement can make quite an impression.
Grade 12 Vernon Secondary School student Georgia Tooke isn’t rejoicing at the extension of summer break, but can’t wait to start her final year of school.
With no end to the teachers strike in sight, and her graduation year on hold, she took to the street to let the public know she wants to be in school.
Tooke’s signs with the words “Don’t choose sides choose learning,” “Honk for resolution,” “Support learning,” and “I want to go to school,” garnered plenty of attention as she protested in front of the courthouse on 27th Street most of the day Wednesday and Thursday.
“I really hope they can put their differences aside and put their ideas together to change the education system as we know it,” said Tooke.
“This could be an opportunity to spark a learning revolution.”
