The New Year’s baby symbolizes the birth of the new year, and will be the first of the more than 44,000 babies who are expected to be born in British Columbia in 2018.
In Vernon, that baby was Alora.
Weighing a healthy 7 lbs and 14 oz. Alora was born at 5:10 p.m. at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Jan. 1 to Taylor Carey and Franjo Beg. Though tired and admittedly, a little “camera-shy,” Carey and Beg are happy, healthy and doing well. This is their first child.
As per their tradition, members of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary were on hand Tuesday afternoon to present Alora and her parents with a card, flowers and a basket of gifts for Vernon’s New Years Baby and her family.
