The Trail and Greater District RCMP is offering victim services for members of the public affected by a crash that killed two Fruitvale teenagers on the weekend.
Story here: Bodies recovered
“Victim Services has a wide range of services and information that is made available to the public when requested,” Sgt. Mike Wicentowich advised.
To speak with someone in the service, Wicentowich says to contact them at 250.368.2184.
Or, to book an appointment, visit the detachment’s front counter between 8 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Additionally, the Trauma and Grief Response Team from the Trail Fair Society will be hosting an event on Thursday (March 21) at the Trail Youth Centre from 5-7 p.m.
The centre is located at 1696 Second Avenue, across from Safeway.
“The Trail Youth Centre will be open to teens, parents, frontline workers,” Wicentowich said. “And any other community member who may need to talk or want more information on how to respond to those experiencing trauma or grief.”
For anyone with questions, contact Youth Action Network Coordinator Geoff Harrison at 250.231.4622.
The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary Greater Trail Victim Services Program works closely with the RCMP to offer victim services to people in the region who may have experienced trauma.
The program team works in the detachment, located on Laburnum Drive in Trail, and includes professionally trained staff and volunteers who operate 24/7 to ensure victims have immediate support following a traumatic experience.
“People who come across any emergency situation may try to help, be unable to help and feel powerless,” said program manager Brianna Reiller, in a previous release. “Or they may relive their own situations from the past and feel re-traumatized following these events and need support.”
