If you’re a Victoria driver, you may want to ease off the gas pedal.
Victoria city council will hold a special meeting Thursday (July 17) to get public input on reducing speed limits on some city streets.
City councillors are considering reducing the speed limit from 50 km/h to 40 to the following streets: Richmond Road between Fort Street and Crescent Road; Southgate Street; Quadra Street; Bay Street between Blanshard Street and Richmond Road; Douglas Street between Belleville Street and Dallas Road; Gorge Road; Richardson Street between Cook Street and Gonzales Avenue, as well as the entire downtown core.
It’s also considering lowering the speed limit on Cook Street between Southgate Street and Dallas Road to 30 km/h from 50.
Thursday’s meeting will be held at Victoria City Hall, beginning at 7 p.m.
