Victoria police nab prairie crime suspects downtown

Man and woman wanted in connection with string of break-ins in Alberta and Saskatchewan

Two ‘career criminals’ from Saskatchewan wanted in connection with more than a dozen crimes in there and in Alberta were arrested in Victoria last Thursday.

Foot patrol officers arrested a 29-year-old woman who was inside a van parked in the 900-block block of Pandora Ave., and soon after, a 32-year-old man, just before 11 a.m.

The van was reported stolen following a residential break and enter in Zehner, Sask., outside Regina.

“Officers found evidence of break and enters from across Saskatchewan and Alberta on the pair,” Victoria police Const. Mike Russell said in a statement.

The suspects are wanted on 18 outstanding arrest warrants and criminal charges in Saskatchewan, most of them connected to property crimes.

They are also suspects in an interrupted break and enter in Drumheller, Alta.

“Cases like this show the public that police departments from across Canada will work together for victims of crimes,” said Victoria police Const. Justin Munro, lead investigator on the case.

Police are recommending several criminal charges against the pair, and are working with Drumheller RCMP and the Regina Police Service to return the suspects to Saskatchewan.
