Sharon Lewis is still waiting to hear what Cowichan Tribes council is planning to do about opening up communication about what she considers a series of important issues.
A justice circle held at the Duncan branch of the Vancouver Island Public Library Saturday afternoon gave several people the chance to speak about their problems but, despite hopes of organizers, there was no member of council in attendance to answer them.
However, there is still concern among many Tribes members that Cowichan people are being left out of opportunities that should be available to them in employment, health care, and housing.
During the discussions among those who were there, a discussion also emerged about the difficulties of keeping long-standing First Nations traditions alive in the face of the social pressures today.
