UPDATE 5:10 PM:

A fire which completely destroyed a South Quesnel trailer and damaged another, appears to be under control.

The Quesnel Fire Department was called to the scene on Larch Avenue, just behind the Candian Tire just before 4 p.m.

Neighbours looked on as the southernmost trailer in Southland trailer park was quickly engulfed in flames, noting how quickly the fire took the building. Some closer to the scene said they prepared to quickly evacuate if the fire spread further.

“I came out and it was phwag,” Southland resident Robin Dahl said, making a sound and gesturing with her hands to show how high the flames got.

High gusts of wind in Quesnel may have caused the fire to spread to the second home.

It is not known if anyone was injured in the blaze.
