A fire that smoulders on Chatham Island off Oak Bay is human caused according to the Coastal Fire Service.

Parks and the fire service were called out this morning for the fire that is about 10 by 30 metres, says Donna MacPherson, fire information officer for Coastal Fire Service.

“The fire is just smouldering at this point in some logs on the beach,” she said.

Parks staff worked the fire ahead of the Fire Service which arrived with a crew of three after being alerted by residents this morning.
