Cowichan Laker folks turned out in force on Saturday, Nov. 11 to honour Canada’s war dead with a colourful ceremony at the cenotaph at Central Park.

Although a downpour threatened from a heavy sky, the worst of the rain held off, and that meant the natural amphitheatre around the memorial was lined with a big crowd for the event, which featured the music of the Cowichan Pipes & Drums and the Lake Cowichan tenors, along with the colour of the poppies on the many wreaths, the red serge jackets of the local RCMP, and the bright clothing of the many children who attend the ceremony with their families.
