The Langley Events Centre is looking for a few new employees.
About 50, actually.
The sports venue and ice arena needs workers in a variety of fields, mostly part time, explained general manager Derek Cooke on Wednesday as potential workers were interviewed.
Ushers, ticket takers, box office workers, food concession workers, and interns for the marketing department are among the spots the centre was looking to fill.
Many of the part time jobs at the LEC are filled by young people in high school or college, and that means high turnover.
But finding new employees has become a little harder of late, with unemployment at historic lows in Canada and particularly in the Lower Mainland.
This is the first time the LEC has used a job fair to try to find new employees.
Cooke said he hoped the LEC’s good reputation in the community will help bring in plenty of applicants for the various jobs.
