A collision between a motorcyclist and a pick-up truck on Mission’s Dewdney Bridge Tuesday night has left one man dead.
Emergency crews arrived on scene at around 5:30 p.m. to find the motorcycle rider had suffered serious injuries. CPR was seen being performed.
The motorcyclist turned on to Highway 7 from South River Road and was struck by a truck headed east, according to Cpl. Mike Halskov, media relations officer for the RCMP.
“The motorcyclist, a 62 year old man from the Lower Mainland, was struck broadside and died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The occupants of the pickup truck were not injured,” Halskov said.
BC Coroners Service has confirmed the death.
Fraser Valley Traffic Services, the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners’ Service are continuing their investigation.
The bridge was closed for several hours last night due to the crash.
Sixty-nine people are killed in B.C. every year in collisions that occur in intersections, according to ICBC provincial statistics.
