A 49-year-old man from Coquitlam died after he was hit by a dump truck in the roundabout at Airport Way and Harris Road in Pitt Meadows around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, police said.
It happened while the man was walking his bicycle across the road and was struck by the back of the truck.
Witnesses told investigators traffic had yielded the right of way to emergency vehicles en-route to an unrelated incident.
After emergency vehicles had cleared the area a dump truck started through the roundabout intersection when the wheel of the bicycle belonging to the man was clipped, knocking the man to the ground.

Pitt Meadows Fire Chief Mike Larsson told the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News a paid on-call member of the fire department was first on the scene, coming upon the accident while heading to the hall to respond to a reported structure fire and began CPR on the victim.
A Pitt Meadows ladder truck that had been dispatched to the same structure fire stopped to render assistance less than a minute later.
Larrsson had the crew remain on scene to assist.
Traffic through the area was restricted for several hours.
