One man was injured by broken glass after an attempted shooting in North Langley on Thursday night, RCMP said.
The incident began around the 19800 block of 82nd Avenue when Langley Mounties were alerted that shots might have been fired.
Witnesses told them that a car was heard speeding away from the scene, and the police found a stolen grey Audi, empty, at the scene. Officers called in the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Services to help with a search, but could not find a weapon.
A witness on scene said the police focused on an area on the ground at the side of the road. They also set up a wide perimeter in the area stretching many blocks in each direction.
“A short time later police were called by a male who advised he had been the intended victim of the shots,” said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP. “Fortunately, he only sustained minor injuries from the broken glass of his vehicle. The victim is known to police and has been cooperative with the investigation.”
The Audi was towed from the 8200 block of 197th Street where it had been located.
The shooting is believed to be targeted, and police are still looking for a suspect.
