Parts of Abbotsford saw snow Thursday afternoon, with some Sumas Mountain neighbourhoods buried under parts of the white stuff.
With temperatures hovering between 1 C and 3 C, rain mixed with snow at lower elevations. Higher up on Sumas Mountain, heavy snow left roads slippery and cars coated.
A special weather statement is in effect for the region, with Environment Canada saying “rain is forecast to become mixed with wet snow over higher terrain this afternoon with wet snow continuing this evening.”
The statement continues: “Snow or mixed rain and snow are expected to start later this afternoon over the higher terrain areas of the Lower Mainland and continue this evening. Several centimeters of snow accumulations are possible today and tonight.”
