Surrey RCMP apprehend two in Cloverdale area

Two people were arrested in the Cloverdale area after a stabbing in South Surrey Tuesday morning.

At approximately 8:50 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a fight in the 900-block of 160 Street, according to a news release issued Tuesday at noon.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man suffering from “apparent stab wounds.”

The victim was transported by air ambulance – which landed in a field at South Meridian Elementary School, a few blocks away – in serious but stable condition.

According to police, two suspects initially fled the scene in a vehicle, and then on foot. Both were apprehended by police in the Cloverdale area, with assistance from Integrated Police Dog Services and RCMP Air Services.

“Early indications” are that it is a targeted incident, police added.

Asked if police believe this incident is connected to the murder of a Hells Angel in South Surrey Friday, RCMP Cst. Richard Wright said “we have no link at the moment,” but added that, “of course, investigators will be looking at links to any other recent crimes.”

Wright added that with regard to the victim’s age, police are “not sharing that at the moment.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or go online at www.solvecrime.ca
