One residential trailer was completely destroyed and another was damaged following a fire at a mobile home park in Cultus Lake on Wednesday.
Firefighters from Cultus Lake Fire Department and Chilliwack Fire Department responded to the mobile home fire on Columbia Valley Road near Sleepy Hollow Road around 9 a.m. on April 15.
Upon arriving, firefighters found one trailer fully involved with flames travelling to a neighbouring home at Cultus Lake Village.
At around 9:30 a.m., a helicopter landing zone was being set up at Cultus Lake elementary. One resident who was home at the time of the fire was air lifted to hospital.
Firefighters heading to the scene described seeing a large column of black smoke from the Vedder River. Smoke was even visible from the downtown Chilliwack area.
One home was destroyed by fire, while another suffered heavy smoke and heat damage.
There were no firefighter injuries. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and appears to accidental in nature.
This was the second fire in less than a year at Cultus Lake Village. A suspicious fire broke out at the same mobile home park in the early hours of June 13, 2019.
