Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) battled a barn fire in the 700 block of Whatcom Road on Saturday afternoon.
Crews were called at about 12:45 p.m. to the blaze. When they arrived, the barn was fully engulfed in flames, and a large portion of the building had already collapsed.
The barn was partitioned into rental storage units containing equipment, boats and vehicles, but no livestock.
Crews were on the scene into the evening, and they faced challenges including high winds on Sumas Prairie, sub-zero temperatures and poor access to the property.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. A total of 14 AFRS trucks and about 60 firefighters were on the scene, along with members of the Abbotsford Police Department, B.C. Ambulance Services and Fortis Gas.
