Vigil being held in Revelstoke to remember victims of Quebec mosque attack

A vigil is being held to remember the victims of the attack on an Islamic centre in Quebec City on Sunday.

A group of approximately 70 people gathered on Monday for a vigil in front of Salmon Arm city hall for the victims of the Quebec City mosque shooting on Jan. 30. A vigil will be held on Sunday, Feb. 5, in Revelstoke.

A vigil is being held to remember the victims of the attack on an Islamic centre in Quebec City on Sunday.

The United Church and Revelstoke for Refugees are organizing the vigil, which will take place in Grizzly Plaza on Sunday, Feb.5, at 7 p.m.

They are asking people to “light a candle for love and peace.”

Six people were killed and many others were injured in the attack on the Centre Culturel Islamique de Quebec in Ste-Foy on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Alexandre Bissonnette, 27, has been arrested and charged with six counts of first degree murder and five counts of attempted murder.

Vigils have been held in communities across the country to show solidarity with the victims of the attack, who were all Muslim.
