Nakusp and Area Bike Society (NABS) asked the Village of Nakusp for a letter of support which they can include in their applications seeking funding for a project they have started, and for the BC Rural Dividends Fund, and the Columbia Basin Trust Infrastructure Program.
This project in question is the Mount Abriel Trail Project.
The society has been operating since April of 2015, and thinks the project could bring a lot to the community, including more traffic from mountain bikers coming to the area, who would then spend more time, which equals more money, in Nakusp.
NABS also has support from other local groups, including the Selkirk Runners Blade Program, and the Nakusp and Area Community Foundation.
Director of Operations report
The water main replacement project is almost complete except for one driveway, which may be this year, or in the spring, said Warren Lee, director of operations for the village. The homeowners are fine with this. The project also came in under budget and was done in good time.
The Water Smart Ambassador seems to have been a success. Though it was hard to gauge the response, the director of operations has heard nothing but positive things from residents.
Director of Recreations and Parks report
In regard to parks, everything is pretty much done, with the exception of some clean up, said Terry Welsh, director of recreations and parks.
The arena had a really great event at the start of the month, the Kootenay International Junior Hockey game, which took place in partnership with the Minor Hockey Association. The game saw the Revelstoke Grizzlies take on the Princeton Posse.
The arena roof project is just about complete. There are some minor details that won’t be completed by the Oct. 31 deadline, but these are nothing that will have any effect on the roof.
