You may not be able to visit with Santa in person at Cherry Lane Shopping Centre this Christmas, but you can visit him one-on-one on Zoom.

Santa Claus, in collaboration with the OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre and Cherry Lane Shopping Centre, has agreed to visit children via Zoom this year.

Santa had planned on his traditional in person visits at Cherry Lane mall in Penticton. But, Mrs. Claus and Santa have been listening very closely to Dr. Bonnie Henry and her advice.

Santa and the entire North Pole team want to make sure that everyone stays safe in light of this year’s pandemic.

After much consultation and the installation of extra strong wifi at his North Pole workshop, spokes-elf, Jingle B. Merry, announced today that the project is a go.

When reached for comment at the North Pole, Santa admitted that it has been difficult for him to learn the technology but that he kept practicing so that he won’t miss talking to children.

“Well, I know that everyone is learning new things this year – and now I am too! Mrs. Claus really helped me a lot. She is very good at using computers,” said Santa.

“We are thrilled that Santa will still get to do video visits with the children. We will make sure that he has any help he needs,” said Andrea Davison, marketing director of Cherry Lane Shopping Centre.

Virtual visits are one-on-one and can be personalized through online registration with The OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre.

Proceeds from visits with Santa go to the OSNS.

Visits can be booked starting Dec. 7 from the OSNS website at osns.org.
