Premier Christy Clark announced close to $500,000 in new research-and-development money for Vancouver Island University.
One project supports field research, including a mapping laboratory, for resource management of coastal estuaries.
The other project is a mobile facility to measure chemical levels in the air and water and make the information accessible through Google Earth.
Clark said the province is making sure it invests not only in trades, but also in research and development and high-tech “in a diversified economy where we are very much going to push the boundaries for the future.”
