Divers are needed to help gather important information about lingcod, a valuable species that has experienced a drastic decline in its population during the last century.
North America’s west coast in the only place on Earth lingcod inhabits.
Lingcod populations are currently at just three to five per cent of what they were a century ago. Thanks to fishing regulations to help protect the species, lingcod populations have begun to recover during the last few decades.
Now in its 20th year, the Vancouver Aquarium’s Lingcod Egg Mass Survey is an important source of information that helps determine the health of the species.
Divers are needed to help collect data on lingcod egg masses for the survey, which is being conducted until April 7.
