Campbell Riverites took the opportunity to tell their doctors to take a hike in the annual Walk with your Doc.
About 30 people, most of them residents, staff and volunteers of Yucalta Lodge, joined Dr. Caitlyn McFadden in Monday’s sunny weather for a stroll down Cedar St. The walk, part of a series taking place throughout the province this week, was sponsored by the Campbell River and District Division of Family Practice.
A second Campbell River Walk with your Doc, sponsored by the staff of Alder Medical, was held Wednesday afternoon at Frank James Park in Willow Point.
Dr. Dieter DeBruin of Alder Medical partnered with CBI Rehabilitation in Motion in the event, and physiotherapist Tanya Kessling led a pre-walk warmup.
Free pedometers were handed out to each participant at both walks.
Walk with your Doc is a provincewide initiative developed by Doctors of BC.
The event was designed to provide an opportunity for doctors to connect with groups of patients while walking side-by-side and demonstrating their commitment to supporting patients in leading healthy lifestyles.
