Molson Coors is getting ready to hire new staff as it transitions its Western Canada brewery operations from Vancouver to Chilliwack.
Brewery reps say they’ve had discussions with their Vancouver-based employees, and are set to start some recruitment efforts for the Molson Coors Fraser Valley Brewery at Chilliwack in the coming weeks.
At the ground-breaking last year the company CEO estimated there would be 1,000 construction jobs and about 100 positions once the new brewery opened.
But the final job numbers will be dependent on “market demand” at the time of brewery commissioning.
Jobs postings listed last week included a ‘maintenance scheduler/planner’ and a human resources position, to help in the transition to the new location east of Vancouver.
The $300 million brewery in Chilliwack will replace the Burrard Street facility in Vancouver.
The new Fraser Valley Brewery at Chilliwack has been taking shape near the Yale Road overpass for months.
Attention was focused weeks ago with the conspicuous arrival and installation of nearly 100 beer tanks, accompanied with a clever social media marketing campaign. The big tanks were sourced overseas, and about half were manufactured in Abbotsford.
“With the various brewing, fermenting and holding tanks now installed, the exterior of the structure will be completed in the coming weeks,” according to the release.
There are still details to be worked out as the Molson Coors team turns its attention to engineering tasks, from brewing, to distribution infrastructure and systems.
The brewery is expected to be fully operational by late summer 2019.
