There’s a road block set up on Highway 97 in Quesnel this week, running from Oct. 16 to 18.

The road block is being run by the Commercial Vehicle Safety & Enforcement agency (CVSE), the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, the RCMP Cariboo and Northern Traffic Services, B.C. Conservation Officer Service, the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources, the Canada Food Inspection Agency, and the Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

The road block is an annual operation with an objective to find commercial vehicles with obvious defects, to check that all larger commercial vehicles are following regulations regarding their weight, dimensions, etc., as well making sure other vehicles are following all applicable laws and regulations.

There are check points set up in both north- and southbound lanes on Highway 97 near the intersection with Quesnel Hixon Road, at the weigh scale in Quesnel, and also on the Nazko Highway near Bouchie Lake.
