Phase 2 of the Penticton Regional Hospital emergency department is now open and already patients are benefiting from the improvements and state-of-the-art equipment.
In a video posted by the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation’s (SOSMF) Facebook page, emergency physician Dr. Brent Harrold talks about the new privacy patients will experience when coming into emergency.
“The first thing patients will notice is it’s a lot quieter environment,” said Harrold. “We have three private beds in emergency which will provide a lot more privacy and we have two brand new trauma rooms.”
There is also a state of the art care booms in the trauma rooms. The emergency ward now has a brand new ultrasound and ventilator.

Foundation board director Peter Steele thanked the community and their donations for making this happen.
“This marks the end of the David Kampe Tower expansion. With the generous support of donors, the foundation raised more than $20 million towards equipment purchases. Many thanks to the residence of the South Okanagan Similkameen. You helped build a first-class facility for our region,” said Steele.
The EllisDon construction team, who built the David Kampe Tower expansion, has been working hard on finishing phase 1 and 2 of the emergency department.
